Augusta Van Tongeren is an FEI dressage rider and USDF Silver & Bronze medalist based out of Chester, Connecticut. She has competed successfully in several disciplines, including dressage hunter/jumpers, equitation, show jumping, gymkhana, and polo. This has given her a wide range of experience with many breeds and young horses. After several years of competing her self-trained thoroughbred, Augusta relocated to Wellington, Florida to train under Olympic medalist Dottie Morkis.

While in Wellington, Augusta was a working student for Endel Ots and Caroline Roffman (now Caroline Meredith) and groomed for USDF President George Williams at Betsy Juliano’s Havensafe Farm. Since then, she has earned her USDF Bronze and Silver medals and has competed at FEI Prix St. Georges. She also completed a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Augusta has always had an interest in educational psychology and applies her experience to her riding instruction with a clear and positive approach. Her teaching experience includes clinics, lessons, and equitation at a university.

In 2023, Augusta graduated from the USDF L Program- this has given her experience from a judges perspective and allows her to judge schooling level dressage shows. Since early 2024, Augusta has been training regularly with Ann Guptill. As a faculty member & examiner for the USDF Instructor Certification Program, Pan American Games Medalist, and holder of countless national awards, Ann is a wealth of knowledge.

In her spare time, Augusta enjoys playing polo and trail riding in the woods of New England. Augusta has a natural talent for identifying and developing strong and harmonious partnerships between the horse and rider. She is dedicated to providing professional, respectful, and unique instruction to maximize every rider’s potential and meet their individual goals.
